Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is the colon so important to one’s health?
The colon comprises the last five feet of the digestive tract. It is responsible for producing important vitamins in the body. The colon works carefully and closely with the bloodstream by exchanging necessary water, nutrients, and proteins. Its primary function is to rid the body of waste material through a series of muscle contractions known as peristalsis. If this function is impaired, waste material is left in the colon to be reabsorbed into our blood stream and can result in illness.
2. What are some signs of poor elimination?
An overburdened or toxic colon may present itself as the following signs and symptoms: abnormal body odor, body aches and pains, acne, allergies, anxiety, asthma, bloating, foul breath, backache, poor circulation, sallow complexion, dark circles under the eyes, depression, gas, headaches, indigestion, loss of appetite, nausea, poor nail health, coated tongue, and tension.
3. How many colon hydrotherapy sessions do I need?
Every person’s individual prescription will vary depending on their state of health and health goals. We recommend at least a few sessions to get started on improving your health. A good standard protocol includes two sessions the first week (back to back), two session during week two, and then one session a week until you recognize your body eliminating old fecal matter. Then, each person will be able to determine when they need to return for subsequent visits.
4. Does Colon Hydrotherapy alter the bacteria balance in my body?
Colon hydrotherapy can affect the balance of bacteria in the body. It can rid the body of harmful bacteria and allow for growth of the beneficial species. We recommend supplementing the beneficial bacteria after each session to ensure its population.
5. Is there an odor?
No, FDA registered Colon Hydrotherapy devices produce no odor.
6. Is Colon Hydrotherapy painful?
A typical hydrotherapy session is not painful, and can be considered relaxing for most. However, if a client has an impacted colon, some cramping and discomfort may be present until the colon eliminates this waste.
7. Can I be left alone during the session if I prefer?
Yes, for the most part. Your colon hydrotherapist will check on you several times throughout your session. She/he will be there to monitor your session. If you are having difficulty eliminating, your therapist can expedite your release by performing lymphatic massage, abdominal massage or reflexology.
8. What do I need to do to prepare for a session?
Do not eat anything two hours prior to your session and drink plenty of water.
9. Are there special instructions I need to follow after a session?
We recommend eating steamed or cooked vegetables with whole grains. Soups are highly recommended. Heavy meats are best avoided.
